We’re well into the new year, friends, and like many people across the country, I’ve spent a good part of my new year’s energy working through yet another pesky bug. All I have to say is thank goodness for tissues and tea!
I could probably use a little more health this year, but the happiness is overflowing. Despite being sick (we all are, so we’re literally sharing the love), I was able to spend some time with my family and put my Christmas gifts to work.
I received the cutest tea mug from a client, a gorgeous coffee mug from my very talented and wonderful PA, a blender from my best friend so I can make healthy smoothies (YUM!!) and some of my favorite coffee beans (Coffee Co-Op!!) The little tiny plant is a toy from I think a Barbie dreamhouse that my nieces didn’t want anymore so they wrapped it so I could use it on my desk with all my other little cute odds and ends!! 🤣 And then of course, I spent plenty of time snuggling my dog, Molly. (Who got VERY used to the idea of less work, more snuggles!)
I moved to Los Angeles just over ten years ago when my younger sister had her first baby. I medically can’t have kids so I was not about to miss out being a hands-on auntie, even if that meant giving up my life back home in Chicago and moving to the most crowded, congested city! (Worse than New York? Better? I don’t know. I love Los Angeles for so many things, but it’s not a place for the faint of heart.)
I live just about two miles south of Hollywood Boulevard. You can actually see the Hollywood sign from my block when I walk my dog. I live in a very central part of LA, which is really fantastic. I can get to places like The Ripped Bodice bookstore very easily, UCLA, and even some of my favorite places like The Huntington Library (which is actually not really a library but a multi-acre garden and museum!)
I’m excited to have one of my oldest friends coming for a visit later this month. I’ll share lots of pictures. It’s always so fun to have out-of-towners come and force me to step away from my desk and out into nature and into the corners of this city that can be so wonderful.
This is shaping up to be a busy month. I have beta readers working on my next release, Broken Bloodlines, and later this month my super surprise project will be announced and released! You won’t have to go far to check it out, though. I’ll deliver it right here in this newsletter for you.
I hope your new year is off to a great start! Did you set any intentions for yourself? Come up with a word for the year or a plan to hit some inspiring goals? Let me know what you’re working on! You can comment right on this post and I’ll receive a notification.
Don’t forget, if you haven’t read any of my books yet, both Dishonor Among Thieves and The Lover’s Leap are free to KU subscribers! And you can still get a free copy of the prequel novella Bloodguild if you haven’t read where it all started!
I’ll be in touch next week with more great developments… Until then, me and my tissues wish you an amazing start to the new year! 😘
